If you are into blogging or the content-creating industry, obviously you want to earn from it. Although I have seen people who are into blogging because of their passion for writing or creating unique content, they are very few in number; I mean, seriously very few.
Most of us from this field want to generate some good revenue from blogging and for that, we often search for good programmatic advertising companies to monetize our blog traffic in order to earn some passive money. From beginners to the larger community of bloggers, more or less, we all know how these companies play a pivotal role in expanding our blog or content sites.
But the lousy part is that, especially for newer content creators, they often cannot find suitable, appropriate, and cost-effective companies for their sites. And they get puzzled and confused or face problems after choosing the wrong ones.
So, to prevent one such problem, I have the name of one such programmatic advertising company that was founded to help bloggers and publishers but which ultimately serves up terrible results.
It must be noted that I don’t have any personal issue or grudge against this company but just as a user, from my own experience, along with some others’. I am going to share my opinion about them. And most importantly, after doing extensive research, I am sharing my opinion.
So, after reading the above, you must be thinking this is going to be a negative review, but I would like to call it an HONEST review to help the publishers and bloggers out there. By now you must be curious about the name of the company. Before you bite your nails out of curiosity, I am going to state the name. Have a look below and do not forget to look beyond to find out the reasons why.
And The Name Is... MONUMETRIC
I am guessing you are shocked after seeing the name. You might be thinking why Monumetric as the internet is flooded with so many positive reviews of this company. But what they rarely talk about is this company’s shortcomings.
Yes, everything comes with pros and cons, but when the cons overshadow the pros, we can no longer call it a good thing, right?
You are already aware of the advantages of Monumetric, but today, I am going to talk about its shortcomings. As I said, I will give an honest review. After this, you might think twice before going with this ‘overrated’ company.
So, without wasting more time, let’s begin.
Minimum Requirements
The first thing that irked me is their minimum traffic requirement to get access to them. You need to have at least ten thousand page views per month in order to join Monumetric.
For well-established publishers, this might seem very easy or lower than what other companies require, but think about newcomers who are putting in all their effort to diligently create content. For them, getting ten thousand page views per month is not easy. Monumetric clearly shuts the door to them.
They have some other requirements to get started with them that are not at all suitable for blossoming publishers, so before joining Monumetric, make sure that you check and recheck the requirements on their official website.
Set Up Fee With Less Than 80K Pageviews
If you do not have at least eighty thousand page views per month, you have to pay a $99 USD setup fee with a credit card.
Now, you might be wondering – What is a setup fee? In brief, after you reach the required amount, Monumetric will make sure that they can find the most appropriate ads for your content or blog so that you can generate more revenue from your display ads.
It sounds quite smart and convenient, but the tricky part is that you are paying a handsome amount of money for years to come. And how much time it will take to pay you back depends on lots of variables. Till then, you can only keep your fingers crossed.
And, yes, one more thing – many people all over the globe do not have a credit card, so to them, Monumetric says a big NO.
Uncertain Approval Time
Monumetric partners and works with a bunch of different networks. Because of that, most of the time, they take quite a lot of time to approve potential applications.
With lots of users, this has happened – also to me. They apply and wait months to get the approval, whereas other similar companies take only one or two weeks to approve (or deny). Now, in this modern time, who has the time to just wait?
Payout System
This is the most beguiling and disturbing part. You will receive your payments on net-60 terms. This implies that after the end of each month you have to wait for two more months. Can you imagine? The payment will then only clear within the first days of each month.
Let me make this clearer with an example. Suppose you have earned your ad income in the month of January, but you need to wait with empty pockets throughout February and March. Then in the first 10 days of April, you will receive your payments.
That means you have to be a saint with immense patience in order to get your hard-earned money!
Money That You Supposedly Can Make With Monumetric
This section should grab your attention because honestly, we all are here to earn money. While it is true Monumetric can generate good revenue for you, when you are on Monumetric, you need to keep in mind one thing and that is – more page views do not always mean more money.
If you notice that you have quite a lot of page views but are still not generating the proportionate money, remember, you are on Monumetric. What matters for them is the impression. So here you need to increase your impression. You have to make your viewers stay on your page a long time; you have to work to decrease your bounce rates and need to create more interesting and attractive blog entries.
So basically, you have to make your readers stay longer on your page. What if they are quick readers and have read your blog within a few minutes! I don’t know!
Conclusion
These shortcomings are alarming and sufficient enough to distract a publisher or blogger. While most of the cons might not seem problematic for giant publishers, for the newcomers or for small communities, these things are a real headache.
For the inexperienced, it is very hard to find a proper programmatic advertising company, and even more so when the big well-reviewed companies like Monumetric can create problems like this for its users.
One thing I would like to mention – I have no intention of dragging a company down, but when it comes to giving an honest review that my readers can benefit from ethically, I won’t keep quiet. With my own personal experience, and after doing substantial research on other users’ experiences, I have decided to reflect on the company’s shortcomings so that it is easier for you to find the possible best option for you.
Again, it is all up to your choice and your requirements. I hope this article helps you wisely choose the proper option for you. If you have any similar experience with Monumetric or if I have missed any shortcomings, do not forget to mention them. After all, readers are valuable assets for us.
Lesson learned: If somebody is ignoring you for months – that’s not a good sign.
Forget them and move on.
I hope this article is useful for you. Wishing you good luck with your journey in this industry and till then, stay connected.
