I had to come up with some kind of a plan for what I wanted to do with my blogging business. Internet-business people say they are all making huge money with blogging. I do not know these people personally so I am a little bit skeptical when somebody claims that you can make A LOT of money without a lot of effort. The world does not work like this (unfortunately) from what I understand based on my life experiences and that of everyone else I know.
I did a lot of research and found that Internet Wise People on average claim that they make between $2,000 – $8,000 blogging per month per website. I cannot verify if this is true or not. Well, I am thinking that if they say they make $2,000, I will accept that this statement is 10% true – so we are now down to $200. This sounded more realistic to me since I got my architectural project presentations monetized some time ago on YouTube and I made me like $40 (see screenshot below) over six months. It kind of happened by accident since I monetized my projects on YouTube out of curiosity about what monetization is and without the intention of making money.
Surprise!!! I almost made $40!!!
I was amazed by this system of making money (even if it is few dollars) while asleep – I like this! So I figured it is better to spend my free time making websites instead of watching TV. I thought it is worth trying and I have very little to lose – maybe a few hundred dollars of investment. Since I do not gamble, I didn’t feel like I was wasting my hard-earned money. And since YouTube proved to me that the Internet pays – I took it as a good sign and as encouragement to succeed.
So, I was thinking that if I could make $200 from a single website, then to have an income of $4,000 a month I need to go crazy and build 24 websites – one website a month. The twenty websites would produce income ($200 x 20 = $2,000) and four websites ($200 x 4 = $800) would cover the expenses like hosting, domain names, editors, writers, IT help, etc.
Blogging to Succeed
My blogging plan is very simple: to make at least 1 website with 30 blog posts a month for the next 2 years – or die trying.
I call it Project 24 Extreme. I am starting January 2019. I will post my progress every month, and I will post screenshots of my earnings from these blogs so you can get an idea of how I am doing with website traffic and income. Hopefully, I will be earning my $4,000 a month by the end of 2021.
I did some research and found out that the minimum requirement for a website to make money is 30 blog posts. After that, a blog after needs to be updated with several articles a month. It takes approx. two hours to write a decent size blog post, so thirty posts at two hours is sixty hours and that is 1.5 weeks for most people around the world (not including Mexico, South Korea, and Greece, where they go overboard with work hours).
I made myself a promise that I will write at least one blog post each day to reach my goal. Well, I know that there will be some unexpected delays, but since I am not rich at the age of 45, nothing will happen if I wait a few days more. Let’s see how it goes because I am new to blogging. Everything looks so EASY BEFORE you start actually doing it. Then everything is suddenly complicated enough. You can spend hours on every detail, like setting up a stupid plugin sometimes. So right at the start, I can see that delays will take place for sure.
I knew it would be a lot of work. I had to prepare myself for the amount of time it takes to do all the research. I figured it would take up most of my time. I know that the cost of running a blogging business is rather minimal in comparison to the majority of traditional businesses like Highway Builders Incorporated or Medical Laboratories Corporation or something similar.
